Contract kick-starts the latest phase of Heathside & Lethbridge regeneration project

Ardmore Construction Limited has been appointed by housing association Family Mosaic to deliver the next phase of development on the Heathside and Lethbridge estates (located between Lewisham Road and Blackheath Hill) in South London. Under a £23m contract, awarded before Christmas, Ardmore will start on site immediately to build a 17 storey building plus associated smaller buildings to create 190 new homes for affordable rent, shared ownership and private sale. The buildings will be of traditional brick construction with elements of aluminium cladding.

Family Mosaic has been working with Lewisham Council, bptw partnership, residents and local community groups on the regeneration of the Heathside and Lethbridge estates since 2006. 565 homes are currently provided but once completed the project aims to provide a total of around 1200 new homes including 450 affordable rented and a mix of homes for sale and shared ownership.

Dick Mortimer, Group Development Director with Family Mosaic said “We were impressed by Ardmore’s ability to mobilise its extensive workforce and start on site within a couple of weeks of its appointment. Ardmore’s extensive experience and its reputation to deliver projects on complex and challenging sites made it an ideal partner for this project.”

The scheme is located on a busy housing estate so the project will involve careful management of residents and sympathetic demolition works. Ardmore continues to build a strong reputation as the development partner of choice for independent housing organisations.
