Laying a pathway to success at Surrey Docks Farm

Wed 24th Apr 2024

Ardmore has teamed up with Southwark Construction Skills and Surrey Docks Farm to install a new walkway for visitors to the South London community farm.

As part of a two-week apprenticeship boot camp ten Southwark youngsters dug up an old block paved pathway at the farm’s community allotments and constructed a brand new concrete walkway.

As part of the programme the trainees completed their CSCS cards and manual labour NVQs, which allow them to follow onto an apprenticeship programme.

The placement was arranged by the team from Ardmore’s Canada Water project and local training provider Sigma Group.

Surrey Docks Farm is a working charitable farm on the banks of the Thames, London, offering a range of training and educational opportunities to schools and adults with learning disabilities.

From cows to honeybees, the farm provides a home for animals large and small, including goats, pigs and sheep, as well as star attraction Alice the donkey who celebrated her 25th birthday in February.
