Old War Office

Located in the heart of Whitehall, the Old War Office is a Grade II* listed building with a rich and unique history. The building once housed secretaries of state Lord Kitchener, T.E. Lawrence and John Profumo, as well as Winston Churchill during World War II. The  760,000 sqft development will bring the Old War Office back into use as a five-star 125 key luxury hotel, as well as 85 super-prime apartments.

The existing 580,000 sqft building is being retained with Ardmore overseeing the significant structural alterations and extension into a 760,000 sqft mixed-use scheme, including the creation of a new rooftop extension, alongside restaurants, boutique shops, bars, a spa, a gym and pool.

A four-storey basement extension, constructed ‘top down’ beneath the existing building, will provide a total of six below ground levels, while a three storey roof extension provides additional internal area.
