Promoting Women in Construction

Tayna is one of our most exciting young project managers. Having cut her teeth on the demanding London Athletes Village, Tayna has been responsible for the successful legacy works at Plot N02 as well as the recently completed Victoria Works project in Walthamstow.

Having completed a BTech in construction in Ireland, Tayna was put-off a site based role by a lecturer who told her “project management is hard enough for men to get into, never mind women”.

Tayna now works with our employment and skills manager Eillish Kwai on each of her projects in order to establish comprehensive community engagement strategies, working with local colleges and training providers to provide advice, training, work-placements and job opportunities to women on all of her sites. Tayna stresses the importance of explaining the various opportunities to young women, whether trade based on-site or in the office as an engineer, quantity surveyor or project manager.
