Canaletto is a 31-storey residential tower comprising 190 exceptionally specified apartments next to the City Road Basin, marked by its uniquely shaped curved aluminium and glass facade. The tower rises 97 metres above a double storey basement, which houses a residents’ swimming pool, spa, gym and cinema.
Designed by internationally-lauded UNStudio, Canaletto’s key architectural feature is the curving facade, which comprises expansive bespoke curved glass, stone and metal elements, which create continuous ribbons of windows, balustrades and spandrels wrap around the exterior.
The 190 exceptionally specified apartments, by world renowned designers Johnson Naylor and Martin Goddard, are each built to exacting quality standards.
The apartments are finished to the highest level of specification, with air conditioning, timber flooring, custom-designed kitchens and pre-wired entertainment systems.
Alongside acting as the design and build main contractor for the project, Ardmore self-delivered the facade, splitting the package into a number of constituent parts, co-ordinated, assembled and installed by our own in-house team of facade experts.
As well as developing the detailed design, Ardmore directly procured 10,000 sqm of architectural aluminium feature cladding, 135,000 kgs of GRC, and 4,500 sqm of floor-to-ceiling double glazed window units – including some of the largest panes of curved glass in Europe.
