Work Placements for Hackney Wick Students
Over the last two weeks, we’ve had the privilege of hosting two students currently studying for their T-Level in Design, Planning, and Surveying of Construction. These students have gained a solid introduction to the world of construction, covering everything from law and project management to sustainability, design, and quantity surveying.
Over the past two weeks, they’ve had the opportunity to be hands-on at our Hackney Wick site, which they’ve found incredibly valuable—there’s no better way to learn than by seeing the action first-hand! They’ve also been working on a mock project where they’re tasked with building a community centre. This project has allowed them to understand the reasoning behind the build, plan the design, and grasp the costs involved.
One of the highlights of their placement has been the chance to hear from various experts within the industry, gaining insights into different roles on-site and how those professionals built their careers. It’s clear they’re gaining a better understanding of the diverse career paths within construction and are excited about the possibilities for the future.
Looking ahead, our students are eager to pursue apprenticeships or degree apprenticeships, and we look forward to welcoming them back to continue building their skills and knowledge.
