Ram Quarter is a major residential-led regeneration scheme in the heart of Wandsworth. The first phase of the development provides 338 apartments and a 68,000 sqft retail district, micro-brewery and museum within the iconic listed buildings that formed the Ram Brewery.
Ten new build residential blocks sit alongside eleven listed buildings dating from between 1720 and 1880. The entire brewery complex is Grade II* listed, including the 5-storey Brewhouse and tower, rebuilt in 1882-83 by Henry Stock in yellow brick above a Portland stone band.
As part of the main contract for Phase 1, we oversaw the entire restoration of the complex, including the restoration of original heritage features, like the vaulted ceilings, exposed brick walls and steel beams within the residential apartments.
The sensitive restoration works to the brewery complex have created 14 industrial-style residential units, retail and restaurant space, and a 10,000 sqft brewing museum incorporating some of the original brewing equipment unearthed during the build.
Original brewing vats and machinery have been restored and reused as feature pieces, both within the building and in the landscaped courtyards. A restored ancient beam engine, encased in glass, takes pride of place within the new residential lobby.
