Design District

The Design District is a cluster of low-rise, artistically inspired buildings next to the O2 arena, providing over 230,000 sqft of commercial, office and retail space. It includes galleries, studios, incubators, start-ups, retail, and food and beverage across the 1.08-hectare plot.

The development includes 16 buildings overall, with eight different architectural studios each designing a complimentary pair of buildings. Ardmore has had to manage the designs from each of the eight practices and a single structural engineer to bring Knight Dragons’ challenging vision to life.

The buildings comprise a mix of structural and architectural finishes, with external façades including Terrazzo, Corten steel, polycarbonate and ETFE, in-situ concrete and corrugated aluminium cladding. Structurally, the buildings have been designed as a mix of traditional reinforced concrete, structural steel and cross laminated timber.
