Hackney Council has appointed Ardmore as the main contractor to deliver the final phase of their Britannia project, a significant new residential-led regeneration scheme next to Shoreditch Park in Hackney.

The £154m design and build contract will see Ardmore deliver 371 new mixed-tenure units within four new residential buildings of up to 25 storeys. The scheme will include 81 affordable homes available for social rent and shared ownership, with 290 private for sale homes helping to pay for these as well as a new leisure centre and 1,100 pupil secondary school already delivered through the project.

Residences will have communal landscaped gardens and roof terraces, new retail and commercial space, cycle storage, high- quality public realms, and great proximity to the new Britannia Leisure Centre and City of London Academy Shoreditch Park.

The appointment builds on Ardmore’s extensive experience of delivering major residential led regeneration projects, including 1,000-unit multi-phase Parkside scheme in Lewisham and the 387-unit Phase 4a of Battersea Power Station.

“We are delighted to have been appointed to deliver this critical part of the Britannia masterplan.

I am especially pleased that Hackney have shown such confidence in us to deliver one of their most prestigious schemes. Over the last few months, we’re already managed to build a strong working relationship with Hackney and their design team to help bring the buildings in line with the highest safety standards, without any compromise in quality.

We are looking forward to working with Hackney Council and to build on our impressive track record of major residential and regeneration schemes in London.”

“Through the Council’s Britannia flagship project we are already seeing the benefits of the biggest public sector investment in the area in a generation.

It’s also an example of how we’re overcoming funding challenges to provide the high-quality facilities and infrastructure that Hackney residents deserve, directly delivered by the Council and serving some of the most challenged parts of our borough.

With new education and leisure facilities already delivered and proving a huge success, appointing this team is a major milestone in honouring our commitment to delivering much-needed new Council homes on the site, prioritised for the local families who need them most.”
