‘Meet the Builder’ at Heathside and Lethbridge

Wed 15th May 2024

A community event for local residents took place on the Heathside & Lethbridge Estate, Lewisham on Saturday 7 May. The event was organised by Housing association Family Mosaic and its appointed contractor Ardmore Construction so that local residents could find out more about the proposals to improve the quality of housing on the estate and to meet the construction team as work begins on site.

Existing housing on the Estate, that does not meet standards, will be demolished and replaced with high quality mixed tenure homes.

One of the regeneration project’s key objectives is that local residents should benefit from the availability of any employment and skills training opportunities.   As a major employer in the construction industry, Ardmore has a proven track record in offering work opportunities and apprenticeships across its projects. The company has recruited local resident Colin Rushby (29) as the first apprentice on the Heathside & Lethbridge project through the Pathways2work initiative.

“We are delighted to be able to give Colin this opportunity,” said Ardmore project manager Neilus McCarthy. “He will receive his training at Lewisham College and will have a good chance of full time employment with Ardmore when he completes his apprenticeship.” Colin started his apprenticeship on 3 May after a period of long-term unemployment.

Ardmore Construction is grateful to Flood Flooring UK, Addingtons Formwork and Falcon Cranes for sponsoring the Community Day.
